Background

XM London was asked to redesign the Privy Council Office website, to better communicate the work of the Office, in particular the role of President of the Council and Leader of the House of Commons.

Key requirements:

• Develop an up-to-date website with the primary focus on daily content delivery
• Ensure rapid development

Solution

Faced with a near-impossible deadline, The Privy Council and XM London agreed to a close working relationship in order to meet goals. The site was launched within six weeks from scoping, design, programming, content integration through to training and final testing.

A key factor in reducing this schedule for launch was that the client took on the responsibility for content integration at an early stage in the process. They were able to do this due to the simple structure of the NetDevPlus templates.

Given the recent government initiative on Freedom of Information, the CMS has enabled Privy Council staff to continue to upload documents and information so that the public can easily access relevant information. Moreover, to meet government accessibility guidelines, a text-only version of the site can be published using NetDevPlus.
